Maya is better than all of them since it allows plugins for the others to work with it. It used to cost almost triple the cost you will pay for it now.
-Maya is used more frequently in industry (especially in movies featuring CGI and video games) and is better for rendering, and animation. It has a huge array of plug-ins and cool features like Maya fur, and other such speciality features. It has a wide user base and tutorials are very easy to find and you’ll more than likely get a great job if you have skills in this. However, it is very expensive.
-3D-S Max is very like Maya (made by the same company Autodesk), but works out a little cheaper and is more for graphical output rather than animation. Again large user-base and lots of plugins and tutorials at the ready. Again.. costs a lot.
-Cinema 4D is the most user friendly of the programs and least expensive. The lighting and animation is superb, but the program isn’t used much in industry and is limited to basic 3D features. Although saying that this program is becoming more and more recognised.

It’s a tough choice as all programs are of 5 star ratings in my book. But, if you ask me Maya is the best of the 3. Simply because more can be done with it, better results can generally be achieved and it’s used by universities, animation studios, game developers and is probably the highest acclaimed when it comes to 3D modelling and animation.
