I am a windows user, should I jump into the world of Mac?
I am 25, and up til now, I have always been using Windows. After my last laptop broke, I am planning to buy a new laptop. My usage includes work on Photoshop, 3d-max, Maya & I DO like to play some latest 3d games and of course movies… (I am not a computer programmer)…….I know Mac is expensive, and that’s why I am asking this Q….I might have to spend >$1600 on Mac whereas I can get top of the line laptop with-in $1100…… So, should I plunge in the world of Mac? Is it worth it or Not?
Thanks ALOT!

Hi some time we need to take a tough solution, As A programmer I advice you to go for Mac, less pain and stable system plus it will run almost everything you need from Microsoft windows..
Money cost effective..

I would throughly recommend this. Crossing over to the world of mac is very simple as does not include any major sacrifices. Mac OS is also alot better.

A computer is only as good as the programs you can run on it.
Since your requirements include 3ds max, and the lastest games. Both which have ZERO support on the mac. I think it’s a consideration that you shouldn’t even be having.
Unless losing 3ds max, and the lastest games a non-issue for you, then i wouldn’t recommend you buying one. I’d stick with windows, since it does have support for the programs you like to use.
Also since your requirements are such high need programs, you might want to consider buying a desktop than a laptop. 3ds max, and maya require very high end graphics cards, many laptops do not have them. If they do, they are very expensive, and often you can get better value for money out of a desktop.

Do not jump into the world of macs
Here are some reasons
People say they are immune to viruses, but look at how many mac only viruses there are. They are just as susceptible to viruses as windows
Overpriced
A macbook has the hardware of a 400-500dollar laptop. It is like 1grand more?
If you play games sure you can dual boot with windows so you can play games.Have fun paying an extra 100 or so dollars just for a copy of windows.

By all means, however, take into consideration these things before you decide to switch to Macs.
1. Majority of programs still work on Windows, although some work for Mac, you can’t get the latest version or you have to buy a Mac Version which does not have equal capability.
2. You only have only one option when you buy a Mac, you can’t have too many choices in terms of hardware choices since Apple sets only limited choices, Windows have many hardware providers so you can choose the best deals to suit your needs. Mac computers are notorious for being expensive and at the same time hardware is not as updated as those for Windows.
3. Although very few viruses are made for Macs, it does not necessarily mean that it is virus-proof, the main reason why there are many viruses for Windwos is that it is more profitable to do so since so many computers can be attacked, since Windows occupies almost 90% of the computers in the world while Macs are less than 10%.
