2D career or 3D career?

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

I want to persue a carreer in animation. I am a born artist, and i have the ability to draw pictures in a better way than other people. I mean i got the talent!!! I am little confused on, what path to take?
3D (Maya) or 2D (photoshop, flash). As a good artist i can do good with photoshop and flash. I am not sure about 3D. If i can use my skills there and i heard the 3D provides a better salary than 2D. Which course can assure me a safe career, but also which can fulfill my artistic skills and needs????

3D Animator in Japan?

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

I have a strong grasp of 3d programs (Maya mainly) and am working towards a degree in 3D animation. I have always been interested in Japanese culture and style of living but I have noticed there are not many jobs within the 3d industry. All I see is anime artists and even then I doubt they would want a foreigner. My question is, are there realistically jobs in Japan in 3D animation or 3D programs? Would they consider foreigners for this job (assuming they could speak japanese)?
Re: thecheapest – So if I did have my Visa companies would be more interested immediately? From what I have gathered they are not very keen on employing foreigners? Is this true?

Why lean Maya when you can lean Softimage/XSI?

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

When I first started learning 3D I learned Maya but after a few months my school started teaching Softimage XSI and so I leared it. The workflow seems so much better and it is so awesome. I know Maya is a great program and is used so much but I just love Softimage. What should I do?
